1989 Fender American Stratocaster Plus Deluxe! SOLD! Fender's Strat Plus has been discontinued a few years back but still has a big following on the used market. Many players love the advanced features, powerful Lace Sensor pickups and great quality of these USA built guitars. Nearly top of the line in the 80s and 90s, these guitars are being discovered by a new generation of players for their quality and cool tones. The body is alder for good sound and weight. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a 9.5 inch radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. Check out the figuring on this example. You seldom see flame maple necks on Fender's of this period. A blue Lace Sensor at the neck teams with 2 golds at the bridge and middle. I suspect the bridge pickup has been changed as it should be a red and the cover appears a little lighter than the rest. A 2 point trem offers smooth whammy action while a roller nut and sealed tuners keep it accurate. The tuners have been changed to Fender American Standard style units. This example is finished in a very cool shade of Midnight Wine metallic. It looks a little more red than most Midnight Wines I've seen and I even thought it was a dark Candy Apple Red. 1983 Fender American Standard Stratocaster! As many guitar aficionados know, the early 80s were a transitional time for Fender. Coming out of the CBS era, there was a new spirit of innovation as well as a back to basics attitude. Fender went from the big headstock, bullet truss rod guitars into the sleeker "Smith" Strats of the early 80s. A few years in the future was the modern American Standard. In between the Smith Strat and the modern American Standards came the 1983 revised Standard Strats. These came with a pickguard mounted jack and trem springs under the guard. The body is alder for great tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a maple fingerboard with 21 frets. A trio of block bobbin American Standard pickups deliver versatile tone. In addition, this is a Roadshow model meaning that the Fender Custom Shop took this guitar "on tour". The Fender Roadshow went to various cities allowing players and dealers the opportunity to meet and ask questions with the Custom Shop builders and team members. You could special order guitars there and check out select instruments. This specific guitar was used in the Roadshow for folks to check out the new Cabronita series. You would assume Fender would only bring their best and brightest instruments out for an opportunity like this and this Tele certainly doesn't disappoint. Fender's US factory couldn't believe how good they were. Even today, many players will take a Japanese made Fender over an American one. The body is basswood for good weight and tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a maple fingerboard with dot inlays. A duo of single coil pickups are hooked to a traditional 3 way switch. Sealed Gotoh tuners and a top loader bridge keep it rock solid. The finish is Fender's classic butterscotch blonde for a cool 52 reissue vibe. A really great guitar for the bucks! SOLD!
