Just like an SG, the MM has a mahogany body. The mahogany neck features an unbound rosewood board. The headstock has a natural overlay and a semi raised pearl Gibson logo. A single coil Melody Maker bridge delivers cool, almost Strat-like, tones. A wraparound bridge and Maestro vibrato make for some hip sounds. 3 on a plate tuners just like a vintage Junior keep everything solid. 2009 Gibson Zoot Suit SG! SOLD!! Holy moley, what a crazy looking guitar. Probably one of Gibson's more controversial releases in recent years, the Zoot Suit is a like it or love it proposition. Bad acid trip or innovative ground breaker? I dunno, but I can appreciate some of its unique features. How the heck did they do it? The body and neck is made of several pieces of birch. Dyed several colors then glued together with a proprietary glue that Gibson claims was developed to increase sustain and resonance. It's definitely different. The body shape is actually a little different than your typical SG with a bit of a carved top kinda thing going on. Surprisingly cool actually. The neck features an ebony fingerboard with dot inlays. 2006 Gibson Custom Shop EDS-1275! SOLD! Doubleneck madness! Obviously you can play "Stairway" on this one but the EDS-1275 offers so much more! Page got a lot of mileage on his using it on the Song Remains the Same concert film but other folks coaxed some sounds out of these beasts as well. John McLaughlin used one on the Miles Davis Bitches Brew album. Ace Frehley would sometimes leave both necks on to capture sympathetic string vibrations on a few Kiss songs. Alex Lifeson had a lovely white one. Even the Eagles got in on the act using one on Hotel California. With its roots in the original hollowbody 50s EDS doublenecks, the EDS-1275 brings to mind hot country pickers like Joe Maphis and Grady Martin as well. You just can't beat 2 necks! 1970 Gibson Melody Maker! SOLD! Want a budget vintage SG? Who doesn't? This 1970 Melody Maker makes a nice substitute for an expensive late 60s or early 70s SG. It's cooler than most Melody Makers because, starting in 1970, they got a full width headstock just like any other Gibson! It looks more like an SG than its budget roots. It even has a pearl logo! Just like an SG, the MM has a mahogany body. The mahogany neck features an unbound rosewood board. The headstock has a natural overlay and a semi raised pearl Gibson logo. A single coil Melody Maker bridge delivers cool, almost Strat-like, tones. A wraparound bridge and Maestro vibroto make for some hip sounds. 3 on a plate tuners just like a vintage Junior keep everything solid. This example is finished in oh-so-70s Walnut and looks really cool. All original too. One bent tuner shaft but nothing that interferes with performance. A really cool 37 year old guitar at a great price! SOLD!
1960's Gibson Melody Maker! SOLD! Here's a cool player's approved Melody Maker at a great price! Get that Joan Jett look! This SG bodied monster would be perfect for a punk rocker. Crazy cool vibe. The body is mahogany for great tone. The neck is mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard. Someone routed the guitar and added a set of unmarked humbuckers. A Bad Ass bridge and repro Kluson tuners keep it rock solid. The whole guitar has been refinished black for a sinister look. Amateur refin but still cool and adds to the vibe on this one. Lots of changes including added Stopbar holes and removed Vibrola but this one is ready for the rock. Serial number obscured by paint and the original pots said "sayonara" a long time ago so I can only guess at a date. A cool guitar for very little dough! SOLD!
1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Jr!
SOLD! Wow! Here's a fine guitar! It's hard to beat an SG JR! Killer tone, light weight and great looks. This one has a serial number in the 30,000's making it a 1961. First year! Top notch cherry red beauty. None of the usual headstock, neck joint or body cracks. Vibrant finish. A real rock machine. A solid mahogany body means big tone. The solid mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard means great playability. One screaming original P-90 at the bridge. Original wraparound bridge with factory vibroal tailpiece. I've bypassed the trem on it for ease of use. Original Kluson strip tuners. The original cherry red lacquer finish still looks nice and vibrant with a cool vibe. Did I say "original" enough? This thing has all of the right parts and is ready to rock. A killer guitar. First year SG Juniors are going crazy. Get it while you can still afford it! SOLD!
