1977 Gibson RD Custom! SOLD! Hold onto your hats! This may be one of the cleanest RD’s I’ve seen! We’ll get to that later, 1st we’ll talk about Gibson’s short lived and underrated RD series. In the late 70s active electronics and synthesizers were all the rage. To stay at the forefront of technology, Gibson hooks up with Moog to introduce the RD (as in Research and Development) series. These were fairly advanced instruments for the time offering tons of sounds previously unavailable. This Custom model features an active treble and bass boost which gives this guitar a ton of range. The maple body is a vaguely reminiscent of a Firebird or Explorer. The 3 piece maple set neck features a bound maple fingerboard with dot inlays. A duo of humbuckers are hooked to a conventional 3 way selector switch, an on/off for the active electronics, dual volumes and active bass and treble boos/cuts. Gibson branded Schaller tuners, a Stopbar tailpiece and Tuneomatic bridge keep everything rock solid. This example is finished in natural. The wood shows some flame in a few spots and makes for a gorgeous instrument. These guitars have become a cult favorite in recent years. This one is too nice to pass up! SOLD!

Gibson Zippo! SOLD! What the heck is this thing?!? Built for Zippo as a promotional guitar by the Gibson Custom Shop. How many did they make? Who knows, maybe it's just a one off. Gibson has a history of making crazy rare guitars for bigger companies. I've had a Lucky Strike CS336 and seen Hummer Les Pauls, A Yahoo Explorer and a few other odd balls. Extremely rare, these guitars were made for promotion and advertisement in extremely limited numbers and seldom find their way to guitar players. This is a quality Custom Shop instrument. The body is shaped like a flame and is presumably mahogany. The neck features an ebony fingerboard with "Use it to start something" inlay. A single P-90 delivers vintage tone. Grover Rotomatic tuners and a wraparound Stopbar tailpiece keep it rock solid. The finish is a gorgeous sparkle red and is set off by chrome hardware. A unique instrument for a guitar or Zippo lighter collector! SOLD!
2007 Gibson Melody Maker! SOLD! Wow! A genuine USA made Gibson at an incredible price. Just like the original 50s and 60s Melody Makers, Gibson's newest version packs a lot of bang for the buck. Good specs for the price range. The body is mahogany for killer tone. The 24.75 inch scale mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets. A lone single coil at the bridge dishes out cool vintage tone. A wraparound bridge and Kluson style tuners round out the hardware. The finish is a matte satin lacquer sunburst for a cool look. Almost zero gloss for the vibe of a vintage original instrument. A fun guitar and a great platform for mods! SOLD!
1997 Gibson Blueshawk! SOLD! The Gibson Blueshawk has become quite popular with players in recent years. Discontinued by Gibson awhile ago, this guitar has taken on a life of its own thanks to its distinctive tone and innovative design. Semi hollow and capable of a wide range of sounds. From traditional Gibson to trademark Fender timbres, this guitar can do it. Made in the USA to the highest standards of quality. The semi hollow body is made of poplar with a maple cap. This combo allows it to achieve more high end than typical Gibson designs. The long 25.5 inch scale mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with diamond inlays. The real fun is the pickups and electronics. Blueshawks feature the highly regarded Blues 90 soapbar. This pickup is similar to a traditional P-90 but has Alnico 5 polepieces that impart quick response and a complex top end. These pickups are integrated with a clever dummy coil system for noise canceling. The fun doesn't end there though as the pickups are hooked to Varitone circuit that allows you to filter out more low end frequencies. The result is a ton of tones in one guitar. This example has been upgraded with a push pull pot replacing the tone control. The push pull allows you to take the Varitone out of the circuit completely. A sustain enhancing string through the body bridge and trusty Kluson style tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is black lacquer and is set off with gold hardware. A very cool guitar that excels in many different music genres. SOLD!
1998 Gibson Blueshawk! SOLD! Here's a cool Blueshawk that won't break the bank! Modded with a bridge mounted humbucker! Made in the USA to the highest standards of quality. The semi hollow body is made of poplar with a maple cap. This combo allows it to achieve more high end than typical Gibson designs. The long 25.5 inch scale mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with diamond inlays. The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan humbucker. Teamed up with the original Blues 90 single coil and Varitone switch, it unleashes a variety of tones. A sustain enhancing string through the body bridge and trusty Kluson style tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is black lacquer and is set off with gold hardware. A very cool guitar that excels in many different music genres. SOLD!

1999 Gibson Nighthawk Special! SOLD! Gibson introduced the Nighthawk in 1993 and despite its innovative design, it was never a runaway success. Luckily, a growing cult has sprung up around this model. A really cool guitar that delivers some very non-Gibson sounds. The design and specs are quite different than your typical Gibson. The vaguely Les Paul shaped body is made of poplar and features a maple top. The 25.5 inch scale mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The pickups are where the magic is on this model. The bridge position houses a special slanted humbucker which teams up with an NSX single coil and mini humbucker. A 5 way switch, coil tap and push pull generate a variety of tones. the push pull doesn't seem to be working on this example and I think is stuck in the humbucker position. A little contact cleaner may make it work again. A sustain enhancing string through bridge and Kluson style tuners keep it rock solid. All hardware is gold plated and the top is bound for a cool look. The finish is Gibson's classic cherry red lacquer. A really hip instrument that excels at a variety of musical styles. SOLD!

1996 Gibson Blueshawk! A sustain enhancing string through the body bridge and trusty Kluson style tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is cherry red lacquer and is set off with gold hardware. A very cool guitar that excels in many different music genres. SOLD!

1997 Gibson Hawk! SOLD! Gibson's Hawk series has long been discontinued but has picked up steam in the used market. Many players are discovering the cool tones and comfortable feel of these guitars. The body is mahogany and a bit smaller than a Les Paul for comfort. The 25.5 inch scale mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Dual 490 series humbuckers dish out big tone. A wraparound bridge and Kluson style tuners keep it all rock solid. This example is finished in classic black lacquer. 1983 Gibson Invader! SOLD! Looking for a real USA made Gibson at a good price? Check out the Invader! A 28 year old Gibson at a great price! The Invader series was built to offer a Gibson product at a lower price point. The body shape is basically a Les Paul and is made of mahogany for good tone. The 24.75 inch scale maple neck features an ebony fingerboard with dot inlays. Dual ceramic magnet Gibson Sonex 180 humbuckers deliver big tone. Sealed tuners, a Stopbar tailpiece and Tuneomatic bridge keep it all rock solid. The finish is a classic sunburst and is set off by chrome hardware. A very cool instrument for the bucks! SOLD!
1984 Gibson Challenger II! SOLD! A real 24 year old USA made Gibson at a low price? Who would have thought such a thing was possible? Gibson's Challenger model is a rarely seen guitar that's a good value on the vintage market. Similar to the Marauder, the Challenger was a unique model of the 80s. The body is Les Paul shaped and reminds me of an 80s take on a Les Paul Special. The bolt on maple neck features a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Dual humbucking pickups (probably designed by Bill Lawrence) dish out classic tone. A Schaller wraparound bridge/tailpiece offers good sustain. The tuners on this example have been upgraded to a modern set of sealed units. The finish on this one has aged to a nice cream/yellow. It reminds me of TV Yellow and has a great vibe. You would be hard pressed to find a USA made Gibson of any vintage that is such a good value. Unique with good tone, the Gibson Challenger is a great deal. SOLD!
1993 Gibson M-III Standard! SOLD! Here’s a very cool and quite overlooked Gibson! The M-III was Gibson offering for a modern rock guitar. Top notch Gibson quality but all of the shred approved features that were so popular in the 90s. The body shape is unique and comfortable and the appointments are 100% Gibson. The body is poplar for good weight and clear tone. The set maple neck features a 25.5 inch scale maple fingerboard with 24 frets and cool arrow head fingerboard markers. The neck shape feels like a slimmer and flatter version of the classic 1960 shape. More in line with an Ibanez than a Gibson. The H/S/H pickup configuration includes a hot 500T at the bridge, a smooth NSX single coil in the middle and a 496 at the neck. They are hooked to a unique 5 position switching system and 2 way toggle for tons of unique tones. The switching system was a bit odd to me at 1st until I understood Gibson’s motives. It’s wired to give you all of the settings in the same order as your favorite Gibson guitars. A little counter intuitive if you’re used to Ibanez or Jackson style Super Strats but easy to get used to. A Gibson branded Floyd Rose double locking trem and Gibson branded Schaller tuners keep everything solid. This example is finished in candy apple red lacquer and features a cool fire stripe tortoise pickguard and truss rod cover. A really great looking and performing guitar. I remember really being knocked out by these when they came out. They were one of the few times Gibson has done something out of the box and made a good looking guitar in my humble opinion. Be different! Play something cool! SOLD!

1982 Gibson CUSTOM SHOP ES-335 Dot Reissue! SOLD! I’ve had a ton of ES-335’s over the years but this one is definitely one of my favorites. I sold it to a local player a few years back and I was as pleased as punch when he decided to trade it back in. Easily one of the best looking ES-335’s I’ve had, period. Very vibey. 1982 was the 1st full year for the Dot reissue. Gibson was looking to get back to basics and return to the original 335 formula. Fast forward 26 years ago and these guitars have become super popular. This one was built in the Custom Shop making it even more desirable than a stock model. It’s lighter than most any 335 I’ve had in stock. Don’t ask me to weigh it, I don’t have an accurate scale. What a great looking guitar! SOLD!

A Tuneomatic bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners round out the hardware. All hardware is gold plated. Continuing with the deluxe theme, the body features multiple binding and the headstock shows the trademark split diamond inlays as seen on Super 400's and Les Paul Customs as well as stock ES-355's. 1941 Gibson ES-300 Archtop! SOLD! This is easily one of the rarest and most gorgeous guitars I’ve offered in recent memory. The ES-300 was Gibson’s replacement for the influential ES-250, a top of the line electric archtop. As electric guitars started to show signs of being more than a fad Gibson decided to standardize features and electronics into one model. Many of the innovations of the ES-300 are still around today including the famous crown headstock inlay, raised diamond tailpiece and parallelogram fingerboard markers. An incredible looking guitar. The original 1940 ES-300’s had an interesting (and HUGE) oblong pickup. They made a handful of those and then switched to the smaller pickup as seen on this example. How many did they make like this? Not many, especially in blonde. Probably rarer than the oblong pickup versions. They only made these in 1941 until the US entered WWII. An incredible find! SOLD!
1998 Gibson Custom Shop ES-295 Reissue ONE OFF CUSTOM ORDERED Candy Apple Red! SOLD! The ES-295 could be called a fancy ES-175. Indeed they do share the same construction. Dual P-90 pickups deliver P-90 soapbar tone with reduced hum. A wraparound tailpiece and Kluson style tuners keep this one rock solid. This example was special ordered in a gorgeous candy apple red lacquer finish. The original cert even notes that it was a one off order. Incredibly rare! SOLD!
1991 Gibson ES-295 Reissue with Bigsby! SOLD!! One of the grand daddies of the electric guitar! The ES-295 was introduced at the same time as the Les Paul goldtop and in many ways could be considered a hollowbody version of Les' solid body broomstick. The 1952 Les Paul had a similar tailpiece as well as the trademark gold finish and cream plastic. In fact, early ES-295's had "Les Paul" engraved on the tailpieces as Les himself invented the contraption. The 295 became associated with rockabilly thanks to Scotty Moore playing guitar for some guy from Tupelo. The rest is history as they say. You can hear Scotty's 295 all over the early Sun sides. Other famous 295 slingers include Geordie Walker from Killing Joke and NYC's rockabilly reconstructionists Heavy Trash. The ES-295 could be called a fancy ES-175. Indeed they do share the same construction. The hollow body is laminated maple for good tone and resistance to feedback. The 24.75 inch scale mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with parallelogram inlays. Dual P-100 pickups deliver P-90 soapbar tone with reduced hum. A Bigsby vibrato, Tuneomatic bridge and Kluson style tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is Gibson's classic Bullion Gold and is set off by chrome hardware and the 295's famous floral pickguard. An incredible fashion statement! SOLD!

1956 Gibson ES-225TDC! SOLD! ES-225's are easily one of my favorite guitars on the whole planet. Lightweight and comfortable with a cool vibe, they are sleepers on the vintage market. This sunburst beauty is one of the more rare ones. Double pickup 225's are super uncommon, especially straight original ones. Killer guitars for rock, jazz or blues. The single cutaway body has an ES-175 outline but is thin like a 335 for better feedback resistance and comfort. The body is made of laminated maple for classic tone. The beefy 24.75 inch scale mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The headstock is inlaid with a tasteful pearl Gibson logo. Dual original vintage P-90s drip with tone and sustain. A Les Paul/ES-295 wraparound trapeze tailpiece gives a unique look and bright sound.. The whole package is finished in a classic and original sunburst lacquer. A really great guitar. The neck on this one was professionally refinished a long time ago. It even black lights. Maybe a factory job? Either way, it looks great. Tuners are 60s examples. All original wiring, pickups, pots, pickguard, and body finish. A fortune in parts are on this guitar. No breaks, cracks or funny business. A real bargain when compared to other 50s Gibsons and a great alternative to a bigger (and much more expensive) ES-175, ES-5 or ES-350. These guitars are sure to go up in value. Grab a nice one while you can! SOLD!
1957 Gibson ES-225T! SOLD! Super duper crazy clean 50s vintage! Es-225's are some of the most underrated guitars on the planet. Top notch McCarty era Gibson craftsmanship, cool looks and killer tone. Gibson's first thinline guitar and their first hollowbody to be designed from the ground up as an electric. There's a lot of ES-335 DNA in these instruments that many folks don't even know about! If collectors and players thought of them as proto-335's or 330's, they would be worth more I guess. The body shape is like an ES-175 but the body is thin like a 335. That means comfort and tone. The body is made of laminated maple for resistance to feedback. The neck is mahogany and features a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. A single P-90 resides in the middle position. For some reason, almost every ES-225 I've owned (and I've owned a bunch) has had an absolutely screaming pickup. This one is no exception. The middle position is a great spot to capture bite, body and definition. You can really dig in and hear those strings. The tailpiece is the famous wraparound as used on ES-295's of the era. This tailpiece offers great sustain over a conventional wooden bridge. Original sunburst lacquer finish. Knobs, pickup, and electronics are all originals. Tuner buttons look to have been changed. Truss rod cover too. A great guitar for blues, jazz and rockabilly. Incredible vintage looks and smoking good tone. Old wood? Yup. Old everything. This is a great way to get a vintage Gibson at the fraction of the price of a 50s Les Paul or ES-335. SOLD!
