1974 Ibanez Custom Agent 2405! SOLD!

The Ibanez Custom Agent is a great example of how the Japanese guitar makers came into their own in the late 70s. No longer content to make copies, the big factories offered unique new designs. The Custom Agent is one of my favorites. Top notch Japanese quality and workmanship throughout. Single cutaway mahogany body with a carved  maple top for good looks and tone. The mahogany neck features a 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard with fancy banjo style inlays. Wild F style scrolled headstock. Dual Super 70 pickups deliver killer tone. A Tuneomatic style bridge and stop tailpiece keep everything solid. Deluxe sealed “star”  tuners too.  This example is finished in a nice violin sunburst.! An incredible guitar for the bucks!

Like most Japanese guitars of the era, this guitar plays and sounds good. Nice feeling neck with low action. We just dressed the frets.  The pickups sound great and electronics work as they should. This would be a great guitar for a player. Not clean enough for a collector, this one is in GD-VG condition. It shows lots of playwear including dents, dings, and scratches. The headstock scroll looks to have been reglued which pretty common on these. Pickguard is MIA and presumably outgassed causing corrosion on the metal stuff. Some cracking and discoloration on the binding. All in all, not unusual wear on one of these and a cool road warrior vibe. Comes in correct hardshell case.

If you’re looking for a great guitar with some real panache, look no further.  Cool looks, killer tones and nice feel. I’ve watched as they have become collectible over the years. Why buy a new guitar when you can find such a cool vintage one?
