You can't beat a Gibson Melody Maker when it comes down to tone for the bucks! All of the great quality of Gibson's golden age without the crazy vintage price tags. Old wood mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard mean a great platform for tone. The single coil pickup delivers great tone. This example sports a Bigsby vibrato. I won't go out on a limb and claim that it is factory BUT, it sports the correct and very rare 50s Dog Bone Les Paul Bigsby bridge as well as a very early B5 with Phillips head screw handle making it 100% correct for the era. If it didn't leave Kalamazoo like this it certainly got the Bigsby soon after. Newer tuners added. Very cool vibe. You would be hard pressed to find a vintage guitar that delivers so much tone for such little money.
This Melody Maker feels and sounds good. The neck is straight, the action is medium and the frets show some wear but play fine. The pickup delivers clean and clear tones. Everything works as it should. This is a solid vintage guitar showing normal wear and tear. It's definitely seen some use over the past 50+ years. Checking, dents, dings, chips, and scratches. All solid though with no repairs evident. Honest wear. Comes in original chipboard case.
Melody Makers are a great deal. Golden age Gibson quality and tone at a great price. There's hardly a better value out there.
