Gecko Burst. Love it or hate it, it certainly was one of Gibson's most distinctive finishes. Along with the equally unusual Latte Burst, it was offered for only a short time. Comparatively rare, I've only seen a handful in person and seldom see them on the used market. As time goes on, they are certain to become even harder to find and perhaps even more collectible. All of the specs are 100% USA made Les Paul Standard. The mahogany body adds warmth while the carved, figured maple top adds brightness and beauty. The 1 piece mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. Burstbucker Pro pickups dish out classic tone with increased bite and midrange. A Stopbar tailpiece, Tuneomatic bridge and Kluson style tuners round out the package. The aforementioned Gecko Burst lacquer finish is set off with nickel hardware. A cool look and certainly unique in a sea of sunburst Les Pauls.
This Les Paul has nice tone and good feel. The pickups sound great and the neck is easy to play. It feels to be a 60s neck. Everything works as it should. this is a nice used guitar. Well taken care of, it shows light to moderate pick, clearcoat and belt scratches as well as a few light indents. Very nice looking. Comes in a Gibson hardshell case.
I'm a big fan of out of the ordinary colors and finishes on traditional guitars. There's enough sunburst Les Pauls and black Strats out there for your average guy in my opinion. Give me something different. Here's a finish that is about as different as it gets. In the collectible world, unusual sells so I would expect that the Gecko Burst finish to be a rare and cool collectible in the future.
