1970s Pre Lawsuit Ibanez Japan 2355 Jazz Guitar! SOLD! Click any picture for supersize view! A killer jazz box at a great price! Like other Ibanez guitars of the era, this 70s 2355 shows great attention to detail, excellent quality and killer performance. Made in the Matsumoku factory as were many of the best Ibanez guitars of this period. A fairly accurate recreation of a late 60s Gibson ES-175. It even sports the pre lawsuit mustache headstock. Great quality and specs throughout. The hollow body is made of laminated maple. The top appears to be laminated spruce which gives it a mellow sound not unlike an L-5 or Byrdland. The laminated mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. Dual Ibanez Super 70 humbuckers dish out PAF like tones. A zig zag tailpiece and adjustable bridge team up for rock solid performance. The finish is a very accurate tribute to Gibson's late 60s Ice Tea sunburst. Set off with chrome hardware and black plastic, this guitar looks killer. An incredible value in a quality archtop! This is a good sounding jazz box. the neck is straight, the action is good and the frets are fine. The pickups sound very smooth. The electronics work well but the neck volume can be a bit scratchy if turned down. Condition wise, this is a nice guitar for its age showing honest wear. It shows moderate pick and clearcoat scratches as well as some indents and dings. The heel cap is showing some deterioration, a common ailment on many Ibanez instruments of the period. It comes in a modern Ibanez hardshell case. This is a great example of a Japanese Ibanez. Killer tone, excellent workmanship and great value. A new Gibson ES-175 will set you back $3599. Heck, a 70s Gibson will set you back around double the cost of this one and I can say with confidence that it probably won't be twice as good. This is a great jazz and blues instrument at a killer price. ST#SG6X5/MIJXXXXX112411 |
