2003 Gibson ES-165 Herb Ellis! SOLD! Click any picture for supersize view! The Gibson Herb Ellis takes the classic ES-175 platform to a new level. Tailored specifically for the jazz guitarist, the 165 is a great looking and performing workhorse for the gigging jazz guitarist. The hollow body is made of flamey laminated maple. Check out the gorgeous figure in the wood! The one piece mahogany neck features a 24.75 inch scale bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid split parallelogram inlays. A floating BJB humbucker delivers smooth, round tone. The pickup is mounted on the fingerboard extension and not into the top to preserve the acoustic qualities of the guitar. An ES-175 style tailpiece, Tuneomatic bridge on a rosewood base and Keystone button Grover Rotomatic tuners round out the hardware. Classy appointments include gold plated hardware, beveled pickguard, multiple body binding and the trademark crown inlay on the headstock. This example is finished in a wine red lacquer. A great looking guitar that just begs for your best playing! This 165 has a nice feel and a vintage Gibson vibe that can’t be beat! The medium thickness neck feels great. The neck is straight and feels good. The pickup sounds nice and warm. Everything works as it should. This is a nice used guitar. It shows light pick and clearcoat scratches, some light indents and a bit of gold fade on the hardware. Comes in original and very deluxe hardshell case. This is a great jazz or blues guitar at a great price. Incredible USA made quality and tone. A new one will cost you $2849 at the superstores. Save some cash on this nice used example.
