Fender’s Eric Johnson Strat is considered by many as the best Strat you can buy without spending big bucks on a Custom Shop guitar. EJ is a notorious tone nut and his ideas mixed with Fender’s attention to detail and expertise adds up to a great guitar. The body is a two piece deep contoured 57 style lightweight alder. The one piece quatersawn maple neck features a soft V shape and a 25.5 inch scale, 12 inch radius maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets. A trio of special design Eric Johnson single coils deliver killer tone. EJ and Fender spent countless hours developing these pickups. They even have countersunk mounting screws, an EJ innovation. A vintage series trem with special 57 style EJ trem block and staggered Kluson style tuners complete the picture. Other cool features include an extra smoothed neck to headstock volute, 5 trem springs with no backplate and special EJ engraved neckplate. The finish on this one is a gorgeous black lacquer. Very Clapton-esque. Vintage looks with some well thought out mods! This Strat is made for the tone savvy player!
I love the feel of the EJ Strats. The V shaped neck is comfy and the big frets and flatter radius make for easy bends. The pickups sound great and all of the electronics work excellent. This is a nice used guitar. The pickguard has a chip out of it. Since the pics were taken, we have ordered a replacement pickguard. It will be included with the guitar and we will be happy to install it for the new owner. The guitar shows some light to moderate pick and clearcoat scratches as well as a few clearcoat indents and dings. No big deal, especially if you are a player. Comes in original and very cool white Tolex Fender case.
The EJ Strat has been one of my favorite models in recent years. Well thought out mods along with classic Fender looks equal a killer package. Made in the USA to the best specs, these guitars are made to be played. $1899 in stores for a new one, this used example will save you some big dough.
