Gibson’s Vintage Mahogany Les Paul offers real Lester tone at a price most anyone can afford. Along with a mahogany back, this model features a carved mahogany top (as opposed to maple like a Standard) for a really warm tone. Full and rich with nice overtones. The one piece mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. 490R and 498T humbuckers deliver killer tones. Kluson style tuners team up with a Tuneomatic bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece for excellent performance. This example is finished in faded cherry red. The faded finishes are a satin lacquer that are reminiscent of a vintage finish. Not glossy and very thin they make for a louder instrument unplugged and contribute to the guitar’s tone. A great guitar and an excellent way to own a real Gibson Les Paul at a great price!
I’ve had several Vintage Mahogany Les Pauls and I’ve always been greatly impressed by the excellent tone. The pickups are hot and compliment the mahogany body well. The rounded 50s neck is straight and the action is good. This is a clean used guitar. It shows some light playwear, scratches and indents but was well taken care of. Very good condition overall. Comes in a Gibson gigbag.
This model has been one of the best deals Gibson has offered. A real carved top Les Paul at a great price. A new one will set you back $999 in stores. Here’s a nice used one for less.
