G&L's Tribute series offers players top notch quality at an unbelievably low price. G&L guitars were the brainchild of Leo Fender and George Fullerton and could be considered new and improved versions of their classic designs. This S-500 sports a familiar shape and top notch features. The contoured body is basswood for good tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a 9" radius maple fingerboard with 22 frets. A trio of made in the USA G&L Magnetic Field Design single coils dish out awesome tone. A 5 way teams with a toggle switch to allow for a variety of pickup combos. G&L's awesome dual fulcrum trem and sealed tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is sunburst and is set off by a tortoise guard. A really cool guitar for the bucks.

This G&L plays nicely and sounds awesome. the neck is straight and the action is good. The pickups deliver a variety of tones. The bass tone control isn't working correctly. It needs to have its capacitor replaced. The trem arm set screw is MIA. Condition wise, this is a solid used guitar. It shows light to moderate pick and clearcoat scratches as well as some indents. Still a good looking instrument. Comes in a deluxe G&L gigbag.

G&L guitars have always impressed me thanks to great playability, excellent features and an excellent price. If you are considering buying a Fender guitar, you owe it to yourself to check out a G&L. A lot of bang for the buck, especially on the used market. A new S-500 Tribute will cost you $649 in superstores. Save some cash on this one.
