1990 Jackson Japan Professional Series Soloist Pro! SOLD! Click any picture for supersize view! Let’s hop on the time machine and head back to the 80’s! Lots of manufacturers were making some great shredders in Japan at this time. Jackson/Charvel, Ibanez, and Kramer were flooding the market with top quality Super Strats. This Jackson Soloist is a great example of a nice Japanese Super Strat. It's so nice in fact that many folks believe Jackson stopped making them because they were taking sales away from the much more expensive USA guitars. Great craftsmanship and quality. It's a neck through design with a maple center section and poplar wings. The fingerboard is bound ebony and features pearl sharkfin inlays. Jackson J50M humbucker and J200 single coils deliver big time tone. A Schaller German made Floyd Rose trem system and sealed tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is a cool candy blue and is set off by black plated hardware. An excellent hard rock, metal and shred guitar at a great price. Like most shredders of this era, this Jackson has a slim neck with a flat fingerboard and big frets. Good overall feel. The pickups deliver good tone and lots of versatility. Condition wise, this one has been used and shows playwear you would expect from a 21 year old instrument. Light to moderate pick, clearcoat and belt scratches as well as some dents and dings, the worst being visible on the upper horn. Normal hardware corrosion. Comes in original and beat hardshell case with a busted latch, funky hinge and period stickers. I remember when these guitars were all the rage and also remember when they fell out of favor. Many players are rediscovering this era thanks to the great playability and tone of these guitars. Japanese quality is well known these days and many players would prefer an 80s Japanese built Jackson to a USA Fender or Gibson. There’s not much else you can get new at this price quite like this. |
