Fender Pin Up Girl Precision Jazz Bass! SOLD! Click any picture for supersize view! If you're getting ready to shoot your next music video, I have your bass! A really cool customized instrument that's oozing with vibe and mojo. Frankly I have no idea how this instrument started life. I suspect it was put together from several instruments, refinished and customized to the state you see here. I have no idea who made what or when they were made. The body looks to be alder and is slab bodied (no contours) like an early 50s P-Bass or a Tele bass. The 34 inch scale maple neck features a maple fingerboard with pearloid block inlays. It looks to be from an old Jazz Bass. A Mighty Mite split coil pickup dishes out vintage tone. A Bad Ass bridge and vintage style tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is a cool yellowed vintage white set off by a tortoise guard. Even the fingerboard is finished white! Wow! What a fun bass! This bass plays OK and sounds good. It has medium action with low frets but would be fine for most players. Not for someone who is used to super low action but fine for a vintage style player. The pickup sounds good and delivers classic P-Bass tone. Condition wise, this one has seen some miles. The refinish isn't bad. Not perfect but better than many I've seen. The bass shows checking, scratches, dents and dings as you would expect of a player's instrument. Cool pin up girl stickers added. Tuners look to have been changed. Looks to maybe have had a headstock repair at one point. Hard to see under the paint. Holes for an MIA bridge cover. As a collectible instrument, this one is pretty much mystery meat, but as a cool budget rock player, it's king of the hill. Comes in customized Musician's Enemy gigbag. This is definitely not a bass for a picky collector. I can't even speculate what mad man would build such an instrument and where they even got the parts. Again, mystery meat but like Spam, it tastes sorta good if you fry it long enough. If you're looking for a bass that makes a visual statement for not a huge chunk of change, look no further. SOLD! |
