1981 Tokai Springy Sound! SOLD!

Tokai guitars are well known among players as being some of the best recreations on the planet. Infinitely playable with great tone and feel. Crafted in Japan to the highest standards of quality. The early Springy Sound captures the vibe. Incredible attention to detail. Many players prefer the feel and tone of their Tokais to expensive pre CBS instruments. Tokai did such a great job on these that Fender took notice. They ended up using the same factory to build their highly regarded Japanese instruments. The body appears to be made of ash. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. A trio of gray bobbin (click on highlighted words for pics) single coils dish out nice tone. Kluson style tuners (with Tokai stamped on the covers) and a vintage style trem (with Tokai stamped saddles) keep it rock solid. Very, very cool metallic blue finish. Very reminiscent of vintage Lake Placid Blue. Appears to be lacquer as it has sunk nicely into the grain. Looks like the Strat Jimmy Page used in the later Zep days. Everything looks good under the hood. Neck heel, neck pocket, no extra routs ever, and original electronics. An incredible guitar that is both a great performer and a great collectible!
Like most Japanese instruments of this era, this Tokai plays and sounds great. Excellent tone and nice feel. The neck is straight, the action is low and the frets are good. The pickups deliver trademark Strat tone. Everything works as it should. This is a nice used guitar showing wear commensurate with its age. It shows light to moderate pick, clearcoat and belt wear as well as a few small dings. The lacquer has sunk into the wood just like a 60s Fender. Very cool vibe. The trem arm has been bent a bit but no bigee. Still nice looking. Comes in original hardshell case.
Tokais are one of the best bang for the buck deals out there. Good quality, nice attention to detail and excellent sound. This Springy Sound would make a great addition to your collection.
