The Gibson SG has long been the choice of rockers wanting aggressive tone and light weight. The 61 reissue offers players the classic SG outline and looks of the 1st year Les Paul/SG model. A solid mahogany offers up the big tone these guitars are known for. The solid mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. Dual 57 Classic pickups pump out snarling sustain. A Tuneomatic bridge, Stopbar tailpiece and Kluson style tuners round out the hardware. The classic heritage cherry red lacquer finish is “the” finish for an SG. One of the industry's biggest icons, no collection is complete without an SG!
This SG plays and sounds good. Straight neck with nice action. The pickups sound good and the electronics work great. This guitar is in New Old Stock condition. Almost zero playtime and showing only the slightest shopwear. As clean or cleaner than many guitar being sold as new in stores. Comes in original Gibson hardshell case.
The 61 RI SG is probably my favorite SG in Gibson’s line. I can’t argue with the look of the small pickguard and beveled body. The tone is easily one of the most recognizable out there. A new one will cost you $1999 at the superstores. This one is priced for the player.
