Classic looks with modern features! Gibson's Les Paul Class 5 is the ultimate Custom Shop version of a modern Les Paul Standard. Incredible made in the USA quality and attention to detail. The mahogany body is chambered for woody tone and lighter weight. The bookmatched maple top features some gorgeous flame. Dual Burstbucker humbuckers deliver big PAF tone. A Stopbar tailpiece, Tuneomatic bridge, and Kluson style tuners team up for rock solid performance. The finish is a gorgeous deep red lacquer. I think Gibson called it cranberry. Very attractive. A great Les Paul!
This Class 5 plays and sounds great. The neck is similar to a slim taper 60s neck. Very comfortable. The frets are good, the action is fine and the neck is straight. The pickups deliver a variety of iconic tones. Everything works as it should. Condition wise, this is a very nice used guitar. Collector owned, it has seen very little playtime. Many would call it new old stock condition. Comes in original hardshell case. No cert but I don't think this model came with one in 01.
The Les Paul Class 5 is a great choice for players looking for a Custom Shop Les Paul with a slim neck. Good feel and quality combined with great tone. Gibson no longer offers a flame top Class 5. A new Quilt Top Class 5 will cost you $4699 at the superstores. Here's one for a lot less in a unique color.
