The J Mascis Jazzmaster is one of my favorite recent Fenders! All of the cool looks and tones of a classic Jazzmaster but with some really well thought out features! The body is basswood for good weight and tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a 7.25 inch radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 jumbo frets. Dual special design JM single coil pickups deliver a ton of tones from biting to smooth. A Tuneomatic bridge, Vintage style floating trem and Kluson style tuners keep it solid. The finish is a very, very cool metallic purple which is contrasted by a gold anodized pickguard. A great guitar for the player, the J Mascis Jazzmaster is a true classic.
The J Mascis Jazzmaster is really a playable guitar. The big frets make for easy bends and nice feel. The Tuneomatic bridge adds stability, sustain and eliminates many of the rattles of the old bridge design. The special design pickups sound great and when teamed with the special Jazzmaster wiring, offer tons of tones. A really cool instrument. Condition wise, this one is nice and clean. Very little use, it shows only some light pick and clearcoat scratches. Comes in a Fender hardshell case, a nice upgrade from the stock gigbag.
Jazzmaster fans have waited a long time for an instrument with cool looks and great features. The J Mascis doesn’t disappoint. $1269 in the super stores plus another $139 for the hardshell case. Save some cash on this nice used example!
