Gibson's Les Paul Classic has proven to be one of the most popular guitars in their lineup. All of the best features of the Les Paul Standard but with hotter pickups and vintage looks. The body is mahogany with a carved maple top for killer sustain. The mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. Hot 500T and 498R pickups dish out big tone. A Tuneomatic bridge, Kluson style tuners and Stopbar tailpiece keep it rock solid. The finish is Gibson's trademark Goldtop lacquer for a hip 50s vibe. A great guitar at a great price!
This Les Paul plays well and has nice tone. The 60s shape neck is straight, the frets show wear but play fine and the action is good. The pickups are hot and offer big time tone. Everything works as it should. Condition wise, this one is for a player. It has seen some use. It shows pick and clearcoat scratches, belt buckle wear, some indents and playwear as you would expect from a guitar that has been used on the road. There's a shadow from a sticker on the back. Not for the collector type. Played. Comes in a Gibson hardshell case.
The Les Paul Classic is one of the best deals out there. You get the same construction as the Standard but with hotter pickups and a lower price. A great deal. Gibson no longer offers the Classic. It has essentially been replaced by the $2189 Traditional model. Here's a way to save some loot and get a good guitar in the process.
