The early 80s were some of the best years for Ibanez. Moving away from the copy era, they introduced many new models and innovative features. Many players discovered the great quality and attention to detail of these Japanese built instruments. Heck, a lot of folks would take an Ibanez over a similar Gibson or Fender of the era. They are indeed that good. Great value for the money. This Roadstar RS300 is no exception. A nicely put together instrument for the money. The body is nicely figured ash for a bright and airy tone. The 25.5 inch scale rock maple neck features a maple fingerboard with 21 frets. A trio of Super Tap 6 pickups are hooked to a coil tap switch for a variety of tones. An Accuscast bridge and Velve-tune machines keep it rock solid. The finish is a nice sunburst that really shows off the wood grain. A really cool guitar with feel and tone that surpasses the price.

This Ibanez plays fine and sounds good. It really exemplifies the late 70s era in terms of feel and performance. the neck is straight, the action is good and the frets are fine. The pickups are clear and bright and can go to an overwound sound with the flip of a switch. It reminds me of a nice hardtail Strat. Condition wise, this Ibanez shows normal wear for a 29 year old instrument. Moderate pick, clearcoat and belt scratches as well as some dents and dings. A little wear on the back of the neck. Nothing major for most players. Comes in original hardshell case.

This is a fine guitar for almost any level of player. A lot of bang for the buck here. You could buy a newer Chinese instrument for about the same money but it won't be nearly as unique or be as well put together as this Ibanez.
