Tele Customs have been hot on the vintage market recently. Classic good looks and killer tone. Lots of versatility in a package that's familiar to most players, especially if you are of the Keith Richards school! This clean 74 Tele Custom does not disappoint. The body is ash for good tone. Some nice figure in the wood. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a 7.25 inch radius maple fingerboard with 22 vintage style frets. A Tele single coil teams up with a Fender wide range humbucker (Designed by the father of the Gibson PAF, Seth Lover and also one of my favorite Fender pickups) for a variety of tones. The original 3 saddle Pat # (click on highlighted words for pics) string through bridge adds sustain while Fender F stamp tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is natural and set off by black plastic. This Tele is all original. I got this one from the original owner and it has been well taken care of. Factory neck end, neck heel and neck pocket stamps. No routs or repairs ever. Original electronics with late 73/early 74 date stamped pots. Original pickups and other parts. Even comes with the original bridge cover! Very, very nice. A great Tele!
This Tele Custom feels good and plays well. The original frets show some normal wear and play fine. The neck is straight and the action is good. The pickups deliver classic Tele tone. Everything works as it should. Condition wise, this guitar has been very well taken care of for the past 35 years. It shows light to moderate pick, clearcoat and belt scratches and a moderate scratches on the pickguard. A few indents. Very nice for its age. Comes in original hardshell case which shows some wear on the ends.
A Tele Custom is a wonderful addition to your guitar army. Classic Tele tone with the added punch of a neck position humbucker. Many dealers are asking $3500 and up for similar examples in less clean condition. This one is nice and priced right.
