2001 Gibson Les Paul Standard 1958 Reissue Flametop! SOLD! Click any picture for supersize view! Gibson's legendary 58 Les Paul with a gorgeous flame top. I've had tons of plain top 58 reissues but seldom see flame tops. As nice or nicer than many 59 reissues without the outrageous price tag. Custom shop built with top of the line workmanship and materials. The non weight relieved body is mahogany with a carved maple top. The one piece 58 shaped maple neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. Dual Burstbucker humbuckers dish out killer tone. Kluson style tuners, Stopbar tailpiece and ABR Tuneomatic bridge round out the hardware. This example is finished a gorgeous faded sunburst lacquer. I believe it's Ice Tea. Really authentic with all the right details. 8.8 pounds according to my scale. This is an incredible Les Paul! Many players love the big 58 style necks. Nice and chunky but still comfortable. The action is low and the frets are great. The Burstbuckers sound great with nice tone and good articulation. This is a fine guitar for the player. It shows moderate pick, clearcoat and belt scratches as well as some indents. A little bit of checking. A small finish check near the nut on the driver's side of the neck. Nothing at all major but not for the picky. Looks great and most players would be happy with the vibe. Comes in a Gibson Custom hardshell case. No cert as some 01's didn't have them. Gibson’s Les Paul reissues are incredible guitars. Awesome tones, looks and quality. This one is even more stunning thanks to an incredible top. A new plain top 58 reissue will cost you a whopping $3999 in the superstores. Here's one for a lot less with a much nicer top. |
