1999 Gibson Gothic Flying V! SOLD! Click any picture for supersize view! Not your dad's Flying V! Gibson introduced the Gothic series a few years back to offer metal guitars a stark new look on the old classics. This thing is black. Devoid of any flash. Sometimes if you stare into the abyss long enough, the Gibson Gothic V will stare back. A metal axe to be sure. Solid mahogany body for excellent sustain. The neck is solid mahogany and features an ebony fingerboard with a sinister moon and star inlay at the 12th fret. Gibson 496R and 500T dish out heavy tone. Nashville Tuneomatic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece for dependable performance. The Grover Rotomatic tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is flat black satin matte and set off by black hardware and a black hardware. This guitar is so dark that you may be able to see light being sucked into its powerful gravitational pull. Truly no Gibson has been this metal! This V has good feel and nice tone. The slim taper neck is straight and the action is good. The pickups are loud and powerful. This is a good used guitar for the player. It definitely isn't for the collector types. It has a cool vibe of an instrument that's been played in the clubs night after night. It scratches, dents and dings and some hanger rash on the headstock. Not for the guy looking for a beauty queen. Comes in an aftermarket hardshell case. Gibson no longer offers the Gothic series. They have actually become more popular in recent years as players discover their mean looks and big metal tone. This one has a cool vibe and is priced much lower than a garden variety V at the superstores. |
