Incredible hand built, Custom Shop tone and quality! Built by Jason DuMont, builder of the super cool Lap King steel guitars. Click HERE to learn more about these gorgeous instruments. DuMont is also known as a builder in Hamer's Custom Shop. Taking the Hamer ethos of relentless attention to detail and craftsmanship to new levels, this Dumont guitar is a treat for the eyes and ears. The body is genuine Korina just like the original 58 Flying V's and Explorers. Korina is well known for its incredible tone and gorgeous looks not to mention its rarity and price tag. The neck is also Korina and features a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. A trio of Seymour Duncan soapbar P-90's deliver awesome growl. The middle pickup can be blended in using a unique concentric pot. An adjustable wraparound bridge gives big time sustain while Grover tuners keep it rock solid. A clear lacquer finish graces the space age body shape while a tortoise shell pickguard dresses it up. The finish is thin and sunken into the grain for a great vintage vibe. A great guitar with unique looks and handcrafted quality!
Big neck fans look no further. This Firebird has a big beefy neck that is very comfy. The action is low, the frets are good and the setup is nice. The electronics work as they should and deliver big P-90 growl. It's lightweight too. 7.1 pounds according to my scale. A great guitar. Condition wise this one shows some light pick and clearcoat scratches as well as a few indents. Comes in a semi hardshell nylon covered lightweight case.
It could be stated that boutique builders offer the best value in the industry. You get handcrafted quality, awesome materials and individual attention to detail that the big boys just don't have. This DuMont Firebird is a great example of that mentality offering real old world quality and the unique looks that only a handmade instrument can offer. This instrument was very pricey when new. The original owner said that he paid nearly 3K for it. My price is much better.
