The Ibanez John Scofield is a stunning tribute to a guitar great. The Ibanez AS200 was Scofield's guitar of choice for over 20 years. In designing the JSM100, Scofield took his favorite features from his AS200's to produce a stunning guitar. Part of Ibanez' high end Prestige series and built in Japan by Team J-Craft, the JSM100 is a stunning work of guitar art. The body is made of stunning laminated flame maple and features a maple center block for great sustain and resistance to feedback. The 24.75 inch scale set neck is mahogany and features a compound radius bound ebony fingerboard with gorgeous pearl and abalone inlays. Dual Ibanez Super 58 pickups deliver smooth PAF like tones. A Gibraltar II bridge and tailpiece team up with high end Gotoh tuners for rock solid performance. The finish is a violin like brown sunburst for an upscale look. All hardware is gold plated and the guitar is adorned with multiple binding and pearl inlays. An incredible instrument that easily surpasses many ES-335's. Built with quality, value and top notch appearance in mind as the famous 70s Ibanez hollowbodies were constructed.
Like most Japanese built Ibanez guitars, this Scofield model plays and sounds great. The medium frets and compound radius make playing easy. The neck is straight and the action is good. The Super 58 pickups have nice warmth. Very nice sounding. A great instrument for jazz, blues and rock. Set up with flat wounds for top notch jazz tone. This is a super clean used guitar. Recently traded in with very little playtime. It only shows some very light playwear and pick scratches. Super, duper clean. As nice or nicer than many hanging as new in stores. Comes in original hardshell case with a ton of case candy.
If you fondly remember the old 70s and 80s Ibanez 335's, this guitar will be a treat for you. Top notch build quality, great looks and smooth tone. Many players would take this guitar over an ES-335 in a heartbeat. Incredible quality. A new one will cost you $2099.00 in stores, that is if you can find one. This one is clean and ready to go.
