Wow! This is a heckuva lotta guitar for very little money! ESP’s LTD Series continues to blow me away by packing a ton of guitar performance in an easy to afford package. Seriously, these things will blow away many higher priced guitars. Dang fancy looking too with gorgeous tops and high end appointments. The EC-1000 Deluxe follows a classic formula. The single cutaway body is made of mahogany for warm tone while the carved top is maple for brightness. Check out the gorgeous quilted maple on this one. While you’re looking, have a gander at the abalone neck and body binding. Wow! That’s something you would normally have to pay big bucks for in a Custom Shop instrument! The 24.75 inch scale 3 piece mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with 24 extra jumbo frets and abalone flag inlays. These guitars come from the factory with EMG 81 and 60 active pickups. These pickups would cost you $200.00 plus labor to add to an existing guitar. A Tone Pros locking bridge, Earvana nut, Stopbar tailpiece and Sperzel locking tuners round out the seriously pro hardware on this guitar. To top it all off the instrument is finished in a seriously gorgeous black cherry transparent. A really classy color that contrast nicely with the black hardware. There’s tons of guitars out there for you to spend your hard earned bucks on. The LTD EC-1000 easily comes with my highest recommendation for this type of instrument. Really an incredible performer for the bucks.
These guitars are built for the modern guitarist. The thin U shaped neck and big frets make for easy playability. The EMG pickups have big, huge tone. Everything on this example works as it should. A great guitar. Condition wise, this one has some playwear but nothing major. It shows light to moderate pick and clearcoat scratches as well as a few clearcoat dents. An ergonomics genius moved the strap button an inch or so down. The hole has been filled. Doesn’t really bother me as a player but collectors need not apply. Still a nice looking guitar. Comes in a molded hardshell case.
There’s not much else out there in the league of these guitars. Fit and finish is above many other brands and when you factor in the upgrade hardware, these guitars are real winners. The competition has a lot to worry about with opponents like these. A new LTD EC-1000 Deluxe will cost you $879.00 in the superstores plus you’ll have to buy a case. This one is priced at a nice savings and includes a decent used hardshell. A dang fine deal.
