Vintage Dean guitars and basses are one of the best kept secrets on the used market. Made in the USA with quality tone woods. Dean Zelinsky started the company in 76 or 77 to offer his own take on classic designs. Instantly recognizable thatns to distinctive body and headstock shapes, the Dean line included the Z (Explorer), V (Flying V), ML (Sorta half Explorer/half Flying V) and Cadillac (Les Paul with Explorer cutaway). Really cool instruments and a comparative bargain on the vintage market. This 1984 Z Bass is a great example of what made Dean so cool. The Explorer shaped body is mahogany and features a bound flame maple top. The set maple neck features a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Dimarzio P and J Bass pickups deliver great tones. A Bad Ass bridge and Schaller tuners keep everything rock solid. All hardware is gold plated. The transparent cherry red lacquer finish looks great and has a nice vintage vibe. A very cool bass!
This Z Bass is set up with medium action for meaty tone. The pickups sound great and all electronics work fine. This one is definitely for a player and not the collector as it has seen a lot of gigs. The lacquer finish is checked. The guitar shows pick, clearcoat, and belt scratches as well as chips, dents and dings as you would expect from a very played bass. Cool for a player. No case but will be mega packed, double boxed and super padded.
