Click any picture for supersize view! The Univox Gimme was one of the first and best known copies of the 70s. Japanese made attention to detail throughout. A really cool guitar that evokes the original sunburst Lesters of the 50s! Single cutaway mahogany body with a quilted maple top for good looks and tone. The maple neck features a 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays. Pickups have been changed to a modern Ibanez bridge pickup and a cool GFS lipstick tube humbucker at the neck. An adjustable bridge and stop tailpiece keep everything solid. This example is finished in a nice sunburst. All hardware is gold plated except the neck pickup. Very attractive! A cool guitar for the bucks! This is a fun vintage guitar. It plays pretty well and has some cool tones. The neck is straight and the action is good. The frets show moderate wear but the guitar plays fine. The Ibanez pickup is hot with lots of bite while the GFS pickup is smooth with lots of articulation. A cool combo. This would be a great guitar for a player. Not clean enough for a collector as this one has been played. Shows belt buckle wear on the back. Normal pick and clearcoat scratches and wear and tear. Dings, dents, gold fade, everything you would expect from a 30+ year old road warrior. Again, not collector clean but fine for a player. Comes in a hardshell case. This is a fun guitar for the money with a cool vibe. Many Japanese guitars of the copy era have become collectible. This Univox is a great example of budget fun. Hip looks and cool tones at a price that won't break the bank. |
